Taipei Songshan Airport spotting 12/2016

Oh yes... I have traveled a few thousand kilometers away and here I am at Songshan Airport (RCSS/TSA). I am of course without my trusty photo software, so Paint would suffice for the resizing of the photo (hope not too much degradation in photo quality). This was taken from the market. A few to start with.

Uni Air ATR72-600 (B-17015)

A rather aged aircraft (though new for me). The Mad Dog. Been always wanting to do this. The FAT aircraft is relatively thin.

Far Eastern Air Transport (would use FAT) MD-82 (B-28021)

China Airlines A330-302 (B-18309)

Songshan sees a mix of regional and long-haul aircraft, ranging from the ATR to the Dreamliner. And as an added bonus, you might catch a glimpse of their Air Force. Take this Fokker for instance.

Taiwan Air Force Fokker 50 (5003)

This next one is a new catch for me too. A small jet (with engines as loud as that of the 737) with sleek looks.

Mandarin Airlines E190 (B-16821)

Taiwan at this time is usually covered by clouds (and from what I've found out some haze too that is ever present throughout the year). Taipei 101 was barely visible from this point. You can more or less tell when there is a spot of light, and otherwise. Ooohh another MD!

FAT MD-83 (B-28027)

This next shot really brings the Chinese out from this land.

China Airlines A330-302 (B-18301)

I thought this next one was just a small object in the sky far away. Didn't really take note until it was closer. And it is this time where I really really miss my zoom lens. Look at how much room it has to fly around the photo.

National Airborne Service Corps AS365N (NA-101)

More to come.

Penang Planespotting #008 - 31 August 2016 - Part 3

It has been some time since I've updated this, but nevertheless, I am back. Here the rest of the shots for the spotting on the 31st August 2016.

And guess who decided to say hi. A flyby at low speeds, no afterburners. It's amazing how quiet they can be.

Now back to the runway.

Malindo Air B737-8GP (9M-LNP)

Rolling from the beginning of runway 22, and with those sharklets, rotation was early. Hence this shot.

AirAsia A320-216 (9M-AQU)

Then the winds changed and it was back to using 04.

Malindo ATR72-600 (9M-LMP)

Before this final rather shaky one. I do notice quite a number of Firefly aircraft doing such aerobatics, though most of the time it was windy.

Firefly ATR72-500 (9M-FYA)

That is all for this post. Stay tuned for more.

Just a sneak peak. Noticed anything different about this China Southern Airlines aircraft?

Penang Planespotting #008 - 31 August 2016 - Part 2

And guess what we have to start off the second part of this thread.......

China Airlines B737-809 (B-18612)

It is not everyday that this one is captured as it arrives at about 4pm-ish. I read that they have previously sent their A340s (how nice if they were to do that again).

Next there was an influx of AirAsia jets. Good for trying out different shots.

AirAsia A320-214 (9M-AFC) - World's best Low Cost Airline

Indonesia AirAsia A320-216 (PK-AXF)

AirAsia A320-216 (9M-AHS)

I can vividly remember another AirAsia aircraft with a white tipped engine cover (somewhere).

AirAsia A320-216 (9M-AQU)

Then came a member of the ATR family. After a sea of AirAsias, come the sole Firefly aircraft.

Firefly ATR72-500 (9M-FYH)

All that arrive would have to eventually depart right? Here is AFC departing. The following shots are possible with Runway 22 ops.

9M-AFC departing

With a bit of Bayan Lepas and the hill

AirAsia A320-216 (9M-AHW)

Firefly ATR72-500 (9M-FYL)

More coming in Part 3. Stay tuned.

Penang Planespotting #008 - 31 August 2016 - Part 1

Afternoon is the time where one doesn't usually go spotting due to the scorching heat. But sometimes, there is just this little itch to go spotting. Afternoon sessions usually see aircraft using Runway 22 for operations. All narrowbodies this round.

AirAsia A320-214 (9M-AFE) - ASEAN Basketball League livery

SilkAir A319-133 (9V-SBG)

Malaysia Airlines B737-8H6 (9M-MXK)

AirAsia A320-216 (9M-AJS)

Malindo B737-8GP (9M-LNS)

Sometimes, you might be lucky enough to get one rotating in full view.

AirAsia A320-216 (9M-AQI) - AirAsia Foundation livery

Malindo Air ATR72-600 (9M-LMS)

Part 2 to include more narrowbodies.

Penang Planespotting #007 - 06 August 2016 - Part 3

After the NEO commercial break, here's part 007 once again. Mostly short-haul aircraft here, ATRs, 737s and 320s before ending with a splash.

Malindo ATR72-600 (9M-LMG)

Malindo just lining up as FedEx crosses the runway

Malaysia Airlines B737-8H6 (9M-MXH)

Tigerair A320-232 (9V-TAS)

AirAsia A320-216 (9M-AHG) - Ninetology

Sriwijaya Air B737-8Q8 (PK-CMI)

I've always liked seeing Jetstar aircraft, with matte finishing with grey colours, somewhat resembling a military aircraft.

Jetstar A320-232 (9V-JSQ)

Reminding me of Rossiya's livery

Aaannnndddd it stared to rain after this. Might as wel use this opportunity to get the next shot. Dragonair A330-342 (B-LAA).

Drying the runway

A great final shot indeed. 2 months worth of spotting photos are still ready and waiting.

Stay tuned.
